Drawn from Greek and Roman designs, classic interior schemes are based on order, balance and harmony. Rooms designed in this manner usually start at one focal point with all other items in the room ordered to enhance the look of the chosen focal point.

In today’s world, bedrooms have many uses. They are the personal spaces where we enjoy reading, watching our favorite movies, exercising and even working in. The most important use for bedrooms however, is that they are sanctuaries where we rest, sleep, relax and where we can be romantic.

The bed is usually the focal point in any bedroom. When making your gift wish list, spend some time together with your spouse and decide on the total interior design scheme you want for your new home. Note that the colours in a classic theme are inspired by nature. Indicate that you would like duvets, towels, sheets, cushions and window drapes in deep blues, browns, yellow, green and earth tones such as terracotta. Note that black can be used to outline important items within a room such as large vases or columns.

“The Ariana Bedroom Set” stocked by 2XL Furniture & Home Décor (Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah) is perfect for such a bedroom. The set is intricately hand curved from solid wood and has a breathtaking antique silver finish. The complete set consists of a king sized bed, a dresser, stool, mirror and two side-drawers.

Creating romance means keeping the clutter down. Ensure that your room is always clean and tidy so as to enjoy your time here to the maximum. You may have inbuilt wardrobes in which to store your clothes, shoes, books, magazines and knick knacks. Depending on how much you both have, you may consider purchasing additional dressers, armories or under-bed storage. Whatever you decide, ensure that it matches with your overall interior design scheme. “The Francesco Buffet Console”” which is painted in gold and features hand curved legs would be a beautiful addition to your bedroom.

Most couples enjoy reading in bed after a long hard day at work as opposed to watching television. Bedside tables are a necessity and they can be used to place lamps, alarm clocks, books and magazines and other amenities you need onto them.

Fabrics for such schemes are usually understated. Linen, cotton and other durable fabrics are at home here. You may add a bit of splash with taffeta and silk along with your chosen cotton and linen. Velvet can also be used in abundance, especially so on upholstered furniture.

Classic floors mostly incorporate wood, marble, slate or stone, placed in a geometric pattern so as to create an interesting, calculated look. Other patterns can be used, although they need to be on the conservative side. Large striped motifs are one of the best options.

Create a romantic sanctuary that you both long to return to at the end of the day by filling this space with embroidered classic soft cushions that you can sink into, heavy velvet or lined satin drapes that block the soft sunlight at dawn, soft contemporary designed duvets to cuddle under together after long hot showers as you settle down into a new romantic life.

Cluster delicately scented candles on your bedside tables to create soft lighting in the evenings, placing them in classic ormolu style candle stands decorated with brass detailing.
