The Modern Bridal Bouquet
Updated: Sep 14, 2020
THE POWER OF FLOWERS
The current mode for bridal bouquets is a bunch of flowers which are hand tied with a ribbon set in place with pearly pins, giving them a more relaxed casual look.
Your wedding theme and the shape of your dress will guide you to your bouquet. Keep your bouquet fresh and try to handle it as little as possible once your florist delivers it. Wrap it in moist tissue paper and keep it out of direct sunlight. Contrary to popular belief do not keep it in the fridge as generally flowers do not do well in extreme temperatures.
Colour is usually the first consideration when seeking your florists advise; White is the first, classic choice for most brides; yellow is bright, cheerful and positive, while orange is rich and fiery; pink is feminine and romantic from dark shades to the paler shades.
Your bouquet may either be single coloured or may include three different colours. They may be harmonious or contrasting. Examples include yellow and red for a harmonious scheme; or green and red for a contrasting one. These will create different effects: pale colours will tone down your scheme, bright contrasting colours will create a vibrant effect.
Have a look at arrangements at your local flower shop; look at ideas in magazines to see which ones best work for you.
Flowers that you can mix and that are around all year in addition to roses are tulips, carnations, orchids and lilies.
