Finding Inspiration
When you close your eyes, what kind of wedding do you see? If you are having difficulties imagining what kind of a wedding you want, get ideas from your parents wedding photo album, from bridal and flower magazines, hotel websites, stationery sample books and fabric shops. Attending other people’s weddings will also give you inspirations to come up with your own masterpiece.
Assemble colour, cloth swatches, ribbons, bows and pictures onto a mood board. You should start seeing a theme emerging. What is your dominating colour preference? Will it be a traditional wedding held in a ballroom or will it be a fairytale one held in a country manor? A coastal wedding in Malindi or Zanzibar? Or a Lakeside wedding in Naivasha highlighted with flamingoes in the background?
When you meet with your wedding planner and vendors, take your mood board along so that they can better understand what you want for your upcoming nuptials.
