Making a Guest List

We at Dorothy Humphreys Weddings advice our couples to first make a Master Guest List. Sit down with both sets of parents. Working graciously together, decide on the number of people you want to attend your wedding to fit your budget set aside for food and beverages that you will serve at the reception.

The next thing to do is to prioritize the Master Guest List by determining the must invites, the should invites and the could invites. Place the names of the must and should invites onto an A-List titled Master List and the could invites on a B-List that you will title as Wish List.

Prioritize Your Guest List

Send invitation cards to guests on you’re A-List 8 (eight) weeks before the wedding. This is because not all of them will accept. Expect to get a response of 80% or even less. Send invitation cards to your guests on the B-List 4 (four) weeks before the wedding to fill the remaining 20%.

Make another Master Guest List for people you shall send wedding announcement cards to. These will be addressed to work and business associates, far away family and friends. You will post them on the wedding day or immediately after. Invited guests do not usually receive announcement cards.
