A Tree for Him and a Tree for Her

In the beautiful idyllic island of Bermuda, a new husband and wife would each plant a tree in the back or front yard of their new home. The tree seedling symbolized the planting of a new life, together.

They would water and weed the plants together; fertilize them together. If the trees bore fruit like oranges or mangoes, they would share and eat them together. The symbolism of this tradition was the hope for a good relationship between the spouses wherein they would show love, kindness, co-operation and team work in their marriage.
