Dotty Answers Guest Seating Problem... My Fiancé Has More Guests Than Me

Dear Dorothy,

My name is Naisula. I reside in Kitengela. My fiancés name is Kamau. He is from Gatundu North. We have decided to have our wedding ceremony in Kiambu where the groom comes from. So far, the responses we have received indicate that the groom will have more guests than me the bride. On the day of the wedding, how will we resolve the seating issue without offending any one?

Hello there Naisula and Kamau.

I am sure that by now you have already chosen attendants. Request all the ushers to arrive at least two hours before the wedding ceremony at the Church. The left side of the Church is traditionally reserved for the brides family and friends whereas the right side of the Church is reserved for the grooms family and friends. As the guests begin to arrive, the ushers should politely request if they are friends or family of the bride or groom. Thereafter, they should be seated either on the left side or on the right side. As the brides guests will be less, let the ushers try to first fill the rows on the left front side as much as possible. As the overflow from the grooms side keep arriving, start seating them on the brides side.

best regards
