Downsizing Instead of Postponing

Our current economic trials with prices on consumer goods being on the rise each and every week is making dents in everyone's pockets. Couples planning a wedding are wondering whether to postpone the event until better times.

However, there is really no reason to postpone a wedding you have been planning for a while. You can simply decide to downsize it and enjoy a reception party with your friends a year later on your anniversary.

Receiving the Sacrament of Matrimony in the Catholic Church is not an expensive matter. All that a couple needs to do is to have booked the wedding day with your Parish Priest. Ensure you attend the required pre-cana lessons together. Choose two witnesses, who will most likely be the best friend of the bride and the groom.

Your wedding attire does not need to be designer or elaborate. As the bride, go through your wardrobe and choose one of your best dresses, a newish pair of shoes and a pair of stockings. As for the groom, choose one of your favorite suits to wear to the wedding. Have the attire cleaned well, either by washing or dry cleaning. Brush up your shoes to a high shine and you will be smart at your wedding.

The flowers for the brides bouquet and the grooms buttonhole do not have to be fresh seasonal blooms. Use silk flowers that are easily available from Nairobi's River Road wedding shop district.

After the church ceremony which will be presided over by a Priest in a Church and witnessed by your best friends, enjoy a downsized reception party at your favorite restaurant.

The meal that you plan to enjoy can either be lunch or dinner, shared with your closest and dearest ten friends. Have the bestman and the bestmaid take photographs of the most important moments that you can have framed. For your wedding cake, a well iced two tier fruit cake will be more than enough.

What about a honeymoon? Take time off from work and enjoy some valuable alone time setting up your new home.
