Magenta Bridal Bouquets & Grooms Buttonholes to Make a Bold Statement at Weddings in 2023

The fuchsia plant has a unique flower. It is bell shaped with a purple outer edge and a deep pink interior. "Fuchsine" was the name originally given to the first ever created reddish-purple dye.



It was in late 1858 when Francois Emmanuel Venguin mixed aniline with carbon tetra-chloride, producing the first batch of dye which he called fuchsine. The colours name was later changed to "Magenta" in celebration of the victory of the "Battle of Magenta fought between the Italian and French forces against Austria. The victory was won on 4th June 1859 near the Italian town of Magenta in Lombardy.


The colour magenta has many shades which you can use at your wedding this year. The tones and shades vary from light to dark pinkish-purple-red into reddish-purple-blue mauve crimson. On the colour wheel, magenta lies between red, blue and purple.



Viva Magenta 18-1750 has been declared as the Colour of 2023 by the Pantone Institute of Colour in New York. Viva Magenta is dark red. Red is a strong colour that never shies away into the corners. When perceived alone, it creates certain emotions such as happiness, exuberance and joy. This is also the traditional colour used to signify love as seen in many St. Valentine's day cards and flower arrangements. Using it in your bridal bouquet and grooms men buttonholes this year is sure to create a spectacular "love themed wedding to remember for years to come.

Create arrangements made from a variety of flowers which harmonise with either a light tone or dark tone of magenta. Use dark red orchids as the central flower surrounded with pink coloured roses, purple garden roses and grey and green foliage to really set of the brilliant dark red of the orchids.



Perhaps your wedding reception will be held in a city ballroom. Choose glamorous monochromatic flower arrangements made with only one flower in one colour. Big garden roses, tulips and lilies will look magnificent at the church ceremony and in the reception centrepieces in the middle of each table.




Many brides and grooms in Kenya just cannot resist a garden reception located in the suburbs or the outskirts of the city. These gardens have an array of flower gardens amidst well manicured lawns. For your garden wedding flower arrangements choose contrasting arrangements. They may all be roses of different sizes and colours. Alternatively, you can choose lilies that also give off a sweet, memorable scent.

You can be planning a destination wedding down at the Coast where you will have double the fun of a wedding and honeymoon. For your beach destination wedding or a beach themed wedding choose lighter shades of magenta flowers leaning towards a pinkish-red tone such as sweet pea. Add cream spray roses, white lilies and yellow mimosa for an effective flower arrangement. Use greenery to balance these colours such as dark green geranium leaves.


Magenta is a strong colour that belongs to the red family. To make a statement of love at your wedding you can use it sparingly or splurge this colour in all your arrangements.
