Nairobi Primary School Grounds Gazetted as a Marriage Registration Centre

Updated: Dec 3, 2021

The Office of the Attorney General launched Nairobi Primary School as a gazetted marriage registration center following the backlog occasioned by the COVID 19 Pandemic.

Civil Marriage Ceremonies will be performed for Christians, Hindus, Muslims and Customary marriages during the months of September, October and November.

The Attorney General's Office has provided two marriage points and two registrars who shall be performing the marriages. All civil ceremonies will be performed in the open air so as to reduce person-to-person contact, according to guide lines given by the Ministry of Health. Moreover, handwashing stations have been provided. Onsite, security officers are also present to control the crowds.

To create a festive celebratory atmosphere, The Attorney General's Office has gone out of its way to provide a photo shoot area, signage points, flowers, changing rooms and a waiting area.

Kenyan couples seeking a civil marriage ceremony are encouraged to register and obtain marriage certificates across the country before the end of November 2020.
