The Hour Glass Shaped Bride

If, after taking your measurements with the help of a family member or with the help of a friend, your body measurements show that you have a small waist, your hip and bust measurements are almost equal, you my friend, have what is referred to as the HOUR GLASS SHAPED BRIDE.

In the fashion circles of designers and pattern creators, this figure is considered the perfect figure. As such, all wedding gowns will look good on you. If you are lucky to have such a body shape you can choose to emphasise either the upper part of the body, the waist or the lower part of the body or the entire body.

If you choose to emphasise the entire body, the sheath, trumpet and mermaid silhouettes will show off all the good points of your shape.

You may decide to focus on your waist. In this case, choose voluminous skirts which create a full circle as these will make your waist appear even smaller. The hemline should be no longer than the knee length.

If you want to show off your bustline, choose open necklines such as scoop and sweetheart necklines. However, if you do not want to draw too much attention to the upper body section, choose a dress with either a bateau or V-neckline. The best type of sleeves for a bride with an hourglass figure are the cap sleeves which follow the natural curve of the body.

Hourglass brides should avoid dresses that are straight or have boxy silhouettes. Avoid adding bows or ruffles around the hip and bust areas.
