Why Do We Wed With Rings?

A long, long time ago before the land had been subdivided into countries, grooms used to wrap circles of braided grass around their brides wrists and ankles. They did this in the belief that her spirit would remain in her body.

With time, grass bands evolved into leather, leather bands evolved into carved stone, and carved stone eventually evolved into metal.

Today gold and silver bands are worn by both men and women on the ring finger as they exchange their vows at the alter on their wedding day. Wedding bands symbolise everlasting love.
